about

Avaritia deals with general topic of greed in our western society. We consume without limits, craving for the better, faster, newer. It always has to be the newest smartphone, the cheapest clothes and groceries possible. However, what we don't care about is the fact that we live this life on the backs of those we exploit to get that advantage. Child labor in third world countries, underpaid wages so ridiculously low that no human can life off of it and poor conditions are what we accept as totally normal. All lead by some major corporations telling us that they care about those poor souls while behind our backs they spitt in their faces. Not only is this song about the explotation of these people but also about nature itself. We chop down forests, fish the seas and throw our garbage into nature as if we had several spare worlds just waiting for the first one to fall apart. Avaritia is the latin word for greed.

I wanted to let out some anger and frustration about said people and the instrumental to Avaritia just fit perfectly as it was very aggressive.

lyrics

Lyrics:

Let's put it all in our pockets
Take from those in need
But never stop pretending
a fake excuse if they bleed
East men’s death is the west men’s treasure
Child labor is the first world’s leisure
Low age, low wage \ oh we love that it’s
Public vices, private benefits
Pre Chorus 1:
Cover the eyes and dig much deeper
for gold inside this crumbling mine
Retribution waits to meet you
as boulders break your crooked spine

With scythes that reap the fields voraciously
Avarice's harvest will go on (and on, the harvest will go on)
Even when there's nothing left to salvage she
won't catch what has gone wrong

Take what you can get
remorse is for the dead
no need to feel regret
leaving behind a wasteland
Sip another drink
let the whole word sink
down into the silt
made from scrap
You piece of shit
you fucking hypocrite
who do you think you are
spoiling this world
like it is your own
down from your hollow throne
you run your mouth all day
without a word to say so

Shut your ears and dig much deeper
for gold inside this crumbling mine
Retribution waits to meet you
as boulders break your fucking spine

With scythes that reap the fields voraciously
Avarice's harvest will go on (and on, the harvest will go on)
Even when there's nothing left to salvage she
won't catch what has gone wrong

The day will come, when you realise
all that you have done
Stumbling through the wreckage
you left behind for everyone
As much as you try to cleanse your hands
they will always remain stained
And as much as you try to sew a veil of delusion
it will always be tained
Go ahead and look into the eyes
of those eploited by your greed
good luck walking on the ice
with that weight on your feet
Avaritia
