about

After failing in a relationship and being left you very often seek fault in yourself. I held regret and contrition in my heart for years feeling like it was my fault alone that said relationship failed. I blamed myself for never being strong enough to apologize for mistakes made because I always tried to be the perfect partner. When I failed I was so disappointed by myself for not being perfect that the only way of coping with the situation was blaming it on my partner. Only recently I realized this and it it made me very sad. However, I talked to my girlfriend of that time and apologized as well as explained to her what my struggle was. She thanked me for my honesty and forgave me.
Striving for perfection is very noble but one should always keep in mind that NOBODY is perfect, NOBODY has to perfect and NOBODY will ever be perfect. Mistakes are inevitable. Not forgiving yourself for these mistakes however will pull you down as long as you live.
Accept your imperfection and learn from mistakes made. This is what this song is about.

lyrics

Lyrics:

A perfect thought so endeavoured
A minor scratch leaves it shattered
Built up by desire to prove it’s worth
Torn down by the hand that gave birth
In imperfection lies the key
The liberating remedy

Contrition’s tearing me apart
When every mistake engraves a scar
Finding strength in the contrary
Of what perfection seems to be

Anticipation breeding frustration
Sickening reverberation
Drown out the sound of triumph
Shifting the mindset
Exclude regret
Each of my failures is another to chance to improve
Never forgiving is never real living
Opened eyes will realize that every night had light ensuing

Contrition’s tearing me apart
When every mistake engraves a scar
Finding strength in the contrary
Of what perfection seems to be
